How to Ping in Microsoft Windows

You can ping the Microsoft Windows operating system via Command Prompt. Follow the steps below to do so.

1. Enter the Start menu, then type Run in the search. Click the search result displayed.

2. A new window will appear. Write CMD in the field. Click OK to open the program.

3. You will see a black Command Prompt screen. Enter the command ping [your website name]. Press Enter to continue.

4. Wait a moment and you will see the ping result display on the MS-DOS screen.

How to Traceroute in Microsoft Windows

As with the ping command, you can perform Traceroute through the Command Prompt program on Microsoft Windows. Follow the steps below to do so.

1. Enter the Start menu, then type Run in the search. Click the search result displayed.

2. A new window will appear. Write CMD in the field. Click OK to open the program.

3. On the black Command Prompt screen, enter the command tracert [your domain name]. Press Enter to continue.

4. The traceroute process takes a little longer than ping. Wait for the process and you will see the statistics as below.

To do so on a Linux or Mac OS operating system, you can use almost the same method through the terminal on that operating system.
