Apple Notifications

Dear Client,

Apple announced that starting September 1, 2020, its Safari browser will no longer trust newly registered SSL certificates with a two-year validity period.

Two-year certificates registered until August 31, 2020, will be trusted, but certificates registered will not be on or after September 1, 2020.  Why is the validity period reduced?

A longer validity period will take longer to roll out updates or changes in general. This increases security by reducing the window of exposure if a certificate is compromised, and ensures certificate holders regularly update their information.

Additionally, when a key is updated more frequently there is less chance of it being breached by a third party.
