What is User Registration
User registration is a page that contains a form whose purpose is to add a new user or user to the application, with certain access rights.
The advantage of the user registration feature is that new users can register their accounts independently, and it also makes it easier for website developers to save time for the website development process.
When this feature is enabled, the user registration feature is located at the bottom of the WordPress website login page.
However, you need to pay attention to the use of this feature. Why? There are at least 2 impacts that occur when this feature is activated:
- Source of spam
The bots will spam some of the website content, for example, to the post comment field, and to the database.
- Fake Account
Fake accounts that you don't recognize will try to register themselves, and try to change website content, make settings, and other activities that can interfere with website performance.
How to disable user registration
Disabling user registration in WordPress is quite easy. Here are the steps:
- Login to Dashboard WordPress
Please login to your website's WordPress wp-admin page. The URL/link you can use is namadomain.com/wp-admin.php (example: contoh.com/wp-login.php). Then enter your website administrator username and password.
- Click the Settings menu.
3. Click the General menu.
4. In the Membership section, please uncheck Anyone can register.
5. Then click Save Changes.
Once you save, you can test the WordPress login page.
Testing
If the Anyone can register box is not checked, the Register text will disappear (not displayed).
However, if the Anyone can register box is checked, the Register link on the wp-admin login page will appear, as shown in the screenshot below:
By doing this setting, you are not giving access for people to register on your website.
Good luck.
