Opening Ports on Windows Server

For those of you Windows server users if you want to open a port on your server, you can follow the following guide. We strongly recommend that your server firewall is always turned on.


  1. Login to your windows server.
  2. Launch Powershell or cmd then type wf.msc the firewall settings will open
  3. Click inbound rules on the left
  4. Then click New Rule on the right side
  5. Select the Port option and then Next
  6. Select TCP then in Specific Local Port fill in the port you want to open, then Next
  7. Select Allow The Connection, then Next
  8. Set the rules on the desired profile settings. Usually just check everything, then Next
  9. Set the profile name that will be applied (letters only) Next
  10. Finish
