Steps to Add Author Role in WordPress

Follow these steps to add the Author role in WordPress. To add a user with the Author role, you need to be logged in as an Administrator.

1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard as an Administrator.

2. In the WordPress dashboard, select the Users menu and click the Add New submenu.

3. You will be redirected to the Add New User page. Complete the following information:

  • Username: User name without using spaces.
  • Email: Active email to login to the WordPress dashboard.
  • First Name: Author's first name.
  • Last Name: Author's last name.
  • Password: Copy and save the password to login to the WordPress dashboard.
  • Send User Notification: Check to send notifications to email.
  • Role: Select the Author option to add the user as Author.

To add a user, click the Add New User button at the bottom.

4. Congratulations! You have successfully added the user as Author.

5. Re-login to your WordPress dashboard as an Author. Enter your Author Username/Email and Password. To continue, click the Log In button.

6. Congratulations! You've successfully logged into the WordPress dashboard as an Author role. Take a look at the menu that appears on the dashboard. Your Author privileges will be more limited.
