Acronis Backup for Microsoft 365

Current restrictions:

  • Currently, users cannot specify the frequency of the backup plan schedule. Backups are performed once a day automatically by the system. Or users can click backup plan - run now to start manual backup.

  • Since the cloud agent serves many customers, the cloud agent needs to determine the start time for each protection plan by itself. This ensures an even load during the day and the same quality of service for all customers. Each protection plan runs every day at the same time.

  • The Acronis cloud agent syncs with Microsoft 365 every 24 hours, starting from the moment the organization is added. If you add or remove users, groups, or sites, you won't see these changes immediately in the service console.

  4. Login with Microsoft 365 global administrator credentials. Microsoft 365 will display the permission requests needed to backup and recover your organization's data.

  1. Confirm that you allow the backup service according to these conditions.

As a result, your organization's data will appear in the backup console of the Microsoft 365 page.

Tips for further use:

  • The cloud agent synchronizes with Microsoft 365 every 24 hours and starts when the organization is added to the backup service. If you add or remove users, groups, or sites, you will not immediately see these changes in the backup console. To sync the cloud agent with Microsoft 365 manually, select the organization on the Microsoft 365 page, and then click Refresh.

  • If you apply the backup plan to all users, all groups or all sites, newly added items will be included in the backup after synchronization.

  • According to Microsoft policy, once a user, group, or site is removed from the Office 365 GUI, it will remain available for a few days via the API. During these days, the deleted item will become inactive (grayed out) in the backup console and not backed up. When a deleted item becomes unavailable via the API, it will disappear from the backup console. Its backup (if any) can be found in the Backup Storage > Cloud Application Backups tab.
